Catch up post: Advent 2016

Can you believe how far behind I am in posting anything? It is probably a blogging cardinal sin to be posting so long afterwards! However, Laura inspired me to start blogging (and to blog more consistently!) And to hold each other accountable. So I am REALLY excited to start reading her blog again! Thanks, Lu!! And I had to post something on the past holidays before moving on, so here is an Advent collection, bullet style!

Clark not acting very cat-like.

We had a very quiet Advent, thanks to some colds, and stayed home much of the time. It was a great blessing and really forced us to enter in to Advent and preparation . . .  and gave me a chance to try some Pinterest ideas . . .

Like this!

And others that didn't turn out well at all!

~3~

Clark has an eye for the most comfortable spot in town . . .

Godzilla was actually a feline

The kids wrote letters to Santa and the Christ Child. Kateri wrote many on her own, and I found them littered around the house. She asked for a baby with blue clothes and a blue hat consistently, and I had to smile when I found this note to Santa . . .

To prevent any POSSIBLE misunderstanding, she wrote the request in BLUE.

~5~

We also had many game nights, and the most popular game in the house continues to be

Ticket to Ride. Get it if you don't have it!

This year, we ended up getting our tree from Southern States since it was too late in the season to go cut our own, and we were VERY happy with it, the quality and the price were on point.

~7~

We made a TON of cookies, thanks to Jeanne's help! I made a huge batch of shortbread cookies which were the biggest flop you have ever seen. Not even edible! BUT the other varieties came out, so it was ok.

Yes. That IS a 25 lbs bag of flour.

Never can you ever go wrong with a Pioneer Woman recipe!
~8~

Sebastian and Kateri enjoyed these magnets from Mormor.

~9~

We finally had Wrigley spayed. But my dream to raise puppies one day is still alive and strong!

And of course, Clark appropriated the comfy new bed in no time.

~10~

Our Chocolate Advent calendar didn't last too long before an unnamed child gleefully discovered it was within reach while my attention was elsewhere.

I comforted myself with the thought that chocolate wasn't exactly seasonally appropriate for Advent.

~11~

And, of course, we had the normal art shenanigans.

Only this time, with permanent marker.

Not exactly the most pleasant discovery I have ever had!

Clearly they are filled with remorse.
However, thanks to good ol google, I made the wonderful discovery that rubbing alcohol takes permanent marker off of skin like a dream. Walls, not so much. But at least it came off their faces!

~12~

Since Clark, a creature of comfort, opts to put himself on timeout,

We know it must be a comfortable chair, despite what the kids may claim!

And, since about December 1, summer dreaming has been on in full force round these parts!

Lovely sweater mom made!

Well, I am rather behind on posting anything at all! But this morning after dressing Kia in the lovely sweater/sock set made for her by mom, I had to snap a few (terrible quality thanks to my broken phone) pics and post them.

I I love the buttons, they complement the little sweater perfectly!

Kia loves it as well!! Mom, thank you so much for this darling lovingly made sweater and cute socks to match! You did a beautiful job on it and I so enjoy putting Kia in it! So, my question is, are you doing 17 sweaters for 2017?? ;-)
