It's that Time of Year, Cont . . .

It's that Time of Year

Prom. Oh, the anticipation. Oh, the preparation.

It was lovely to go take some pictures of the glorious Jeanne (she did look gloriously lovely, as you will see in the pictures). And the other girls, they did look beautiful. And the boys handsome.

BUT . . .

I thank HEAVEN and God Almighty that I never have to go through Prom myself again!

Oh, the pressure. Oh, the fakeness. Oh, the annoying corsages.

No, it is not entirely bad, however, I would like to say something to each and every highschool girl and boy.

LIFE GETS BETTER.

Trust me.

Highschool in general; classes; PROM. It is NOT the be all end all, it is not the climax to your life, or your youth for that matter. It is fun, or parts of it are, but life is so so much better on the OTHER side of graduation! Do not worry!

And, while I'm at it, people are also much nicer on the other side of graduation. Oh, you will still know your jerks and your gossips and your two faced liars. However, they are much fewer and far in between. People will be more apt to see them for what they are, rather than giving them a free pass for all behavior based on their popularity factor. And, a funny thing happens after graduation.

The slate is wiped clean! All those people who thought they were *all that*, their slate is wiped clean, too. They're no longer all that! If you know people who fall in this category, you know exactly whom I mean. It is truly a New Beginning, and it is a fun beginning! It is gloriously fun!

I will add, however, that college with it's thrilling highs and crushing lows, is wonderful indeed, BUT Life gets better after that, too! And, I imagine, continues to get better and better!

What a wonderful world we live in in which things DO get better and better. Or perhaps it is just growing up, we see the reality of who people really are, we understand true friendship to a greater degree, we are more confident in ourselves and doing the things we love. Thank God for growing up!!! Never ever forget that throughout the hard times, the struggles, the discouraging let-downs and failures, we are learning. We are learning and growing up, growing up towards the one who desires to give us perfect happiness. What an ironic and beautiful thing that happiness and joy can even be present in sorrow and pain!! May we ever continue to grow up closer and closer to Him.

And now I will get off my little soap box. And here are some lovely pictures of my dear sister . . . and Peter, Kateri, my mom and few other people sprinkled throughout.

More to come in the next post!!

Time is of the Essence

Isn't it always??

Well, I definitely didn't realize how precious time is until I didn't have any. I suppose that is the way of the world! Or perhaps it is God's way to teach me to get off the couch and get moving . . . . as soon as there is any sort of likelihood of accomplishing something (these days, an 'accomplishment' includes nearly everything. I remember one day where the only thing I did was unload the dishwasher. Yes, you read that right! But the smallness of the task doesn't necessarily correlate with the amount one feels accomplished. Oh! And the day the floor was mopped! BOY, that brought such joy of accomplishment. And if the kitchen is clean, the rabbits fed, and the bed made before 11 am, we are having a spectacular accomplished day!) Or perhaps it is just the way we learn to budget our time. I suppose I am just beginning to glimpse that time is one of the most precious commodities we have. Somehow, when I had gobs of it, just begging to be used in a thousand different ways, I didn't understand this!

One person who has given me some time is my Jeanne-pie. It is wonderful to have her over after she finishes school for the day! It is especially a blessing because not only am I able to spend time chatting and catching up, but I am able to cook dinner. GASP! Cook dinner! This means that everything is done and ready to go as soon as Pat walks in the door. This is truly a joy and an accomplishment, as we all know what the hours from 4 to 6:30 or so mean to a baby . . .

Jeanne tries to convince the baby K to snuggle down and sleep . . . (truly what is better than holding a beautiful little one soundly sleeping on your chest?)

Kateri, however, had other ideas.

Do you really think she would want to sleep when she could be enjoying a visit from her dear Auntie Jeanne??

Ha! Not Kateri! Sleep is for mere mortals (but not for Mommy). Kateri understands the value of time!!! And time well spent!

She spends these days smiling at Aunt Jeanne and being CUTE!

Though unfortunately I did not catch the biggest smiles of the day!

Oh that face!

We must enjoy it and drink in every moment; she is growing up and changing so fast! Time is of the essence. And what greater accomplishment is there, really, than the honor of caring for a beautiful creature of God? That is enough accomplishment for me.

Though I must say, writing a blog at 4 am does give me a rather accomplished feel as well!!

Mary's flowers

Someday, we hope to plant a beautiful flower garden. Right now, we put Mary where we have some flowers in our front yard. In our back yard we have hundreds of vivid yellow flowers, they are round cheerful flowers that bloom often and have lovely round puffs that you can blow on to make a wish! . . . oh wait . . . .

Auntie Anne, Auntie Anne

Week before last we had a wonderful visit from my dear friend Anne! It was simply splendid to see Anne and to show her little Kateri. We had a fantastic lunch and a relaxing beautiful afternoon. You may notice, Kateri already has an eye for the camera . . .

What beautiful ladies! They are both great blessings to me.

Anne was so generous and brought some very summery cute outfits for little K.

Thank you, Anne! They are perfect for summer and I cannot wait until she will fit them :) And Thank you for the visit, we had a lovely time.

Happy Birthday, Dad!!!

On Sunday, we went to my parents house to celebrate a very important birthday . . .

Mom made a beautiful dinner . . .

So delicious!!! Kateri enjoyed spending some time with Jeanne-pie. K loves snuggling!

We love that face so much!

And Kateri was blessed to visit with her uncles too!

Funny faces!

And back again . . .

Thank you for having us over!! And Happy Birthday, darling Dad! God bless you and many happy returns!

Sky Meadows

Last Saturday, Pat and I took Kateri to the country for some fresh air and hiking. The fresh air knocked Kateri out immediately and the fresh air knocked us out that night!

It was a beautiful day, but still pretty chilly. As soon as we started hiking, we warmed up a lot. Pat and I went through the camping section to check it out for future reference . . . would we be daring enough to go camping with a baby at a camp-ground only accessible by hiking??

The view was beautiful!!! Wrigley was so happy to get out of the house.

Spring is about to spring! Kateri and I . . .

And we got a family photo!!! Even Wrigley looked at the camera! And Kateri IS in there somewhere, I promise . . .

Praise God for a wonderful day!!!
